Anthony Zhou, CEO, Canada Masq Corporation

Anthony’s journey into manufacturing began in response to the critical need for locally produced personal protective equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a true entrepreneur, Anthony answered the call from both the provincial and federal governments to establish local PPE manufacturing. He recognized a critical gap in the supply chain and founded Canada Masq Corporation in June 2020. Initially Canada Masq produced ASTM Level Procedure Masks, then quickly began producing CA-N95 Respirators, and recently launched the Q100, Canada’s first CSA Certified CA-N95 Respirator available in 4 sizes including Extra Small, Small, Medium, and Large.

The Q100 also exceeds the highest level of breathability under the new CSA Standards and is very comfortable to wear. The company has since expanded to manufacture other essential disposable medical products and is moving forward with other critical items such as wet and dry wipes, isolation gowns, and recycling solutions for used medical textiles, aligning with Ontario’s sustainability goals. Anthony is passionate about seeking to provide new and innovative answers to some of healthcare’s largest challenges, and establishing local production as a critical component to the solution. Anthony’s drive to bring advanced manufacturing processes to Ontario and reduce dependency on imports has been at the core of his mission.

What does Anthony love about working in manufacturing?

Anthony loves the dynamic and innovative environment that manufacturing offers. He takes pride in creating Ontario-made products, which not only strengthens the local economy but also ensures the Ontario and Canadian healthcare systems have reliable access to critical supplies. Anthony consistently challenges status quo and seeks to create innovation and incremental value – Canada Masq products typically are unique and address issues that previous products have not yet tackled.

The hands-on nature of the work and the opportunity to implement new technologies and sustainable practices make manufacturing both challenging and rewarding for him. In addition to being a “problem solver”, Anthony is extremely curious and wants to understand all aspects of the problem first, which helps his process of creating innovative solutions that remain true to Canada Masq core values and vision. Above all, Anthony is motivated by the knowledge that his work directly contributes to the safety and well-being of people across the province and country.

Canada Masq is proud to extend an invitation for a site visit at our Richmond Hill location to allow you to experience firsthand the cutting-edge technologies and processes we are implementing to advance local manufacturing.
