Nestled in Oakville, Ontario, Colleen Lowe’s journey into the world of organic body care began with an unexpected twist. For over 25 years, Colleen has been the driving force behind Enfleurage Organics, a company born out of a personal need for healing and a passion for helping others live healthier lives.
It all started when Colleen, then suffering from severe panic attacks, took a courageous step outside her comfort zone. One day, she found herself wandering into a small mall where she stumbled upon a health store kiosk. A book on essential oils caught her eye, and without knowing what essential oils even were, she purchased both the book and her first bottle of oil.
That evening would mark the beginning of her transformative journey.
The results were remarkable—essential oils worked for her, sparking an insatiable curiosity to learn more. This curiosity led her to Sheridan College, where a newly launched three-year program on essential oils was being offered.
As part of her coursework, Colleen was tasked with creating a carrier for essential oils, but it couldn’t be the usual massage oil. She delved into research and discovered that soap could act as a carrier for aromas. Inspired, she taught herself how to make a simple olive oil soap infused with lavender essential oil. This humble experiment would later become a stepping stone in her career, as her instructor soon asked her to produce soaps for spas—a moment that gave birth to Colleen’s first soap business.
However, Colleen's journey took a life-altering turn in 2003 when she underwent surgery for cancer. The recovery was challenging, but during those two years of healing, she threw herself into research. She discovered Whole Foods Market, which piqued her interest in organics, and she realized her deeper purpose: helping others live healthier lives through organic body care products.
Once fully recovered and determined, Enfleurage Organics was born. The company debuted at an Organic Farmers Market on Kerr Street in Oakville, a fitting start for a business rooted in health, sustainability, and community.
When asked what she loves about manufacturing, Colleen lights up with pride. "It gives me great pleasure knowing that when you use Enfleurage Organics' body care products, what's going down your drain has no harmful chemicals," she explains. Her passion extends beyond just her customers—it's about the planet too. Those who use Enfleurage Organics can rest easy knowing they’re not absorbing harmful chemicals like Glyphosate, nor are they contributing to environmental damage.
