Deadmanswitch is used to create an encrypted message that will be delivered in the event of your absence.*

Detection determines whether you are present. Set it by steps, email or SMS.+

Delivery happens in your absence. Your recipient will receive an email with a link to download and decrypt your message.‡

What ifs:
- if you enable Steps but don't step, you'll be prompted with a notification to click before you are sent an email
- if you step, there is no need to ever click anything
- if you sign out, lose your phone, or delete the app, you'll be sent an email to confirm your presence
- if your battery dies, the app will resume and run in the background for steps; if the app doesn’t reopen in the background, the email link will be sent to you that, upon pressing, will reopen the app if on mobile
- if you get a new phone, assuming you have email or SMS enabled, you’ll get an email or SMS with a confirmation link that will open the app
- if you click on the link and don’t have the app, it’ll continue to send you emails according to your schedule until
- if you are detained, you can configure your detection schedule for up to 4 weeks, or you can have someone disengage your service
- if you are lost at sea and lose connectivity and all contact with humanity, you will be absent
