Ion Vapour Deposition of Aluminum (IVD-AI)
IVD-Al is an environmentally friendly, pure aluminum coating. It replaces toxic cadmium coatings through a process that vaporizes pure aluminum wire in a vacuum chamber and deposits a thin coating – down to 1/10,000th of an inch – on steel, aluminum, or heavy plastics. The vacuum chamber application eliminates the possibility of galvanic corrosion with dissimilar material (for example, aluminum on steel). IVD-Al is generally a superior coating to cadmium, performing in temperatures as high as 925°F, and has better corrosion resistance.
