Given the pattern allocation on the paper, we recommend ordering the Orchard in Midnight lampshades only in a Drum shape. Linear patterns or parallel stripes may not be well-suited for tapered shapes, as they tend to 'curl upwards' around the shade when rolled. If you prefer a Drum shade in a different size, please do reach out via email, and we will make this happen.

The Orchard in Midnight lampshades are crafted from unique Katazome Washi paper, stencil-dyed by artisans in Japan. This centuries-old Japanese technique involves applying a resist rice paste through stencils to each sheet, selectively preserving areas of the paper from the dye. After dyeing with soy-based inks, the paste is gently washed away, revealing elegant, distinct patterns. The resulting Katazome paper is both durable and vibrant.

Given the handmade nature of this process, slight variations may occur in lampshades when ordering multiple pieces in the same pattern. Each colour is applied individually by hand onto each sheet of paper. This means that every lampshade receives its unique character too.

Shipping: if the paper is in stock, the lampshade will be shipped within the next 5 business days. If your desired item is out of stock, please note that the current lead time for lampshades is up to 3 weeks.

Each lampshade is made to order in our Toronto atelier.

Due to the bespoke nature of the product, returns and refunds are not available once the lampshade has been produced and shipped.
