- About Tenaris… Tenaris is the leading manufacturer of steel pipes and related services for the world's energy industry. Operating at the intersection of steel and energy, Tenaris plays an important role supporting the development of oil and natural gas with its global and local manufacturing of Oil Country Tubular Goods for downhole drilling operations, Line Pipe and Coating for transmission from the wellhead through to further processing and value addition, and in the provision of services directly to our customers in our Rig Direct® business model. We are also developing new products to supply pipes and tubular components for low-carbon energy applications.
- Our People…Among more than 26,000 around the world, are over 1,200 in Canada, 750+ in Sault Ste Marie all supplying steel pipes to Canada’s oil and gas industry. Our people operate advanced manufacturing, everyone interacting with technology in their roles. As a result, we train our people on our process, our equipment, and our products. Our relationships with local educational institutions are important to supplement our internal training and to have the people we hire prepared to begin training on our operations. Our people include 17 different nationalities and in the last 2 years around 100 families have moved to the Soo, some from outside Canada
- Our Local Investment… Canada is important for Tenaris, we are investing to continually expand our products and processes capabilities, adopt new automation and digitization technologies, and to create an industrial hub of human talent for Canada’s pipe manufacturing. September 2022, with contributions from all 3 orders of government, we inaugurated $150M investment in our operations to centralize our Canadian pipe manufacturing in Sault Ste. Marie. Our investment outlook is for potential investments of up to $50M per year in the next several years with the right conditions.
- The world continues to need energy from all sources and Canada is an O&G leader for the foreseeable future – The Canadian market is the 4th largest in the world for the products that we produce; steel pipes for O&G well drilling called OCTG, Line Pipe and coatings that connects the wells with the value added infrastructure, and Line and Process Pipe that is an integral part of the value added infrastructure in the petrochemical and power generations sectors.
