Ukrainian Pierogies Inc. — more than food. It’s a story of community, culture, and resilience.

 

The war in Ukraine affected even the youngest. My three children had to flee their home and start over in a new country. It was painful, but their eyes and hope became my strength. I started this business with just $122, using my grandmother’s pierogi recipes. From a rented kitchen, we grew into a full-service café and wholesale operation. Today, our products are available across Ontario.

 

We proudly run our restaurant Alla’s Ukrainian Pierogies & More, located in the heart of Strathroy at:

86 Frank Street, Strathroy, Ontario.

Here, guests can enjoy traditional Ukrainian meals, order breakfast, or take home our frozen pierogies.

 

But our mission goes beyond food. We:

 

• Participate in presentations and women’s leadership forums, sharing our journey of entrepreneurship and resettlement in Canada.
• Host masterclasses in schools, churches, senior homes, and communities, where children and adults make their first pierogies by hand.
• Are studied by Huron University as a model of immigrant-led business and female entrepreneurship in Canada.
• Volunteer regularly with local museums, the Canadian Legion, and Rotary Club, supporting civic and cultural events.

 

 

Today, Ukrainian Pierogies Inc. stands as a stable food production business with a certified kitchen, local farm ingredients, partnerships with Ontario butchers, and a true taste of Ukrainian tradition — made with heart, here in Canada.
