Flora or Fauna II
As a cat lover and flower enthusiast, I’ve always dreamed of creating something that blends both elements. While working on my cyanotypes, our cat loves to stay nearby, sniffing the dried flowers and leaves I've collected. He’s truly a wonderful assistant, keeping me company throughout the process.
Starting with real botanicals that I have harvested, dried, and pressed throughout the seasons; the original cyanotype is hand-made using sunlight, photographic chemicals, and developed in a water bath.
This giclée print is a reproduction of the original cyanotype. Starting with real botanicals that I have harvested, dried, and pressed throughout the seasons; the original cyanotype is hand-made using sunlight, photographic chemicals, and developed in a water bath.
About Cyanotype:
The cyanotype is a photographic process that produces a Prussian blue monochrome print. Developed in 1842, this technique utilizes a photosensitive solution that reacts to sunlight exposure. Plants act as UV shields, leaving their impressions on the paper. Each cyanotype print is unique, as variations in weather conditions or the distribution of the photosensitive solution can affect the shades of blue and imperfections, adding to the charm of this artisanal printing technique.
